PURPOSE:To obtain a feed effective in improving the milk fat content and suitable for cattle such as dairy cattle by compounding a specific amount of an edible binder to whole cottonseed and pelletizing the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The objective feed pellet is produced by compounding 100 pts.wt. of whole cottonseed with 10-300 pts.wt. of an edible binder. The binder is preferably bran of wheat, oats, rye, etc., sunflower cake or cottonseed cake. The whole cottonseed includes the cottonseed having almost all cotton filaments (cottonseed as harvested), cottonseed left after the mechanical removal of the cotton filaments (ginned cottonseed) and cottonseed subjected to the complete removal of cotton filaments by the chemical treatment (e.g. acid treatment) or burning with a flame. When the amount of the binder is less than 10 pts.wt. the binding action is insufficient and the cottonseed is broken by the excessive pressure applied by the forced binding force. On the other hand, the cottonseed and the binder is easily mixed by the use of more than 300 pts.wt. of the binder to cause local deficiency or surplus of the cottonseed and make the granulation difficult. |
