PRODUCTION OF ACTIVATED CARBON FIBER

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve lipophilic property and org. solvent adsorbing performance by subjecting vapor-grown carbon fibers to activation treatment in an oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Vapor-grown carbon fibers having 0.005-5mum diameter, >=10 aspect ratio, 0.01-0.2g/cm<3> bulk density and about 99wt.% carbon content are subjected to activation treatment at 600-1,200 deg.C for 10-120min in an oxidizing atmosphere to obtain activated carbon fibers having 200-450m<2>/g specific surface area.
