PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound in high yield by reaction between tetrafluoroethylene and dichlorofluoromethane or chloroform in the presence of a halide containing an element selected from Ga, In, Zr, Hf and Ti. CONSTITUTION:A reaction is made at -20 to 100 deg.C under a pressure of 0-15kg/cm<2> between tetrafluoroethylene and dichlorofluoromethane or chloroform at the molar ratio (1-2):1 in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst (e.g. GaCl2, ZrCl4, InBr3) to obtain 3,3-dichloro-1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane and 1,3- dichloro-1,1,2,2,3-pentafluoropropane. The product thus obtained can be used as foaming agent, refrigerant, detergent, etc. |
