<p>Alpha-aminoethylene phosphonate betaines of the formula R1 is hydrogen or methyl; X is ?-O, ?-NH, or CH2; a is 0, 1, 2, or 3, with the condition that when X is ?-O or ?-NH, that a be greater:than 1; R2 and R3 are independently C1 - C6 alkyl, aryl, benzyl, or cyclohexyl; Y is hydrogen or hydroxyl: b is 0, 1, 2, or 3: Z is C1 - C6 alkyl, aryl, benzyl, cyclohexyl, or ; and M is hydrogen, metallic cation, or ammonium ion. These compounds are useful as anti-redeposition agents in detergent, chelating agents for scale inhibition, as crystal modifiers and in oil well drilling needs.</p> |
