PURPOSE:To generate characters of high quality by converting contour data on a font into dot data by an outline converting means and correcting projections of dots which are generated at peak parts of a curve smoothly by a curve correcting means with curve correction data. CONSTITUTION:Shape data on the outline font(OF) is read out of the character ROM 14 of an OF storage part. Data indicating a position where a curve correction is to be made is read out of a curve correction data memory 24. The curve function of the read outline data is developed to generate many interpolation points in one segment. Those interpolation points and the start and end points of a straight line are connected in order with linear vectors to obtain short vector data. The short vector data are converted into dot data. When the curve is corrected with the curve correction data and only one dot projects, the unattractive part of the projection is corrected. Namely, dots are added above and below or on the right and left sides of a specified point. |
