<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a packet switch that enables modular increment as a network is enlarged by interconnecting a small packet switch of a J input to a K output to each output of an interconnection configuration of an N input to an L output. CONSTITUTION: In an operation, a packet simultaneously reaches inputs 101 to 108 of an interconnection configuration 109 between prescribed time slots and is read. The configuration 109 decides which output packet switch it is among outputs 122 to 137 of the configuration 109 from each packet destination address. At that time, there are some times when the destinations of several packets are the same subsets 122 to 125 of an output, but each packet is separately sent to a different output 122 to 137. Also, when the destinations of several packets are the same switch output (e.g. 114) or when they are the outputs 114 and 115 of an output packet switch 110, these packets are separately sent to different inputs of the packet switch by different subsets of the outputs 122 to 137 of the configuration 109.</p> |
