NEW MATERIAL:2-Acylamino-5-halogen-substituted cinnamic acid derivatives of formula I (Ac is lower acyl; R is H or lower alkyl; X1 is halogen). EXAMPLE:Methyl 2-acetylamino-5-chlorocinnamate. USE:Useful as an intermediate for synthesis of medical and agricultural chemicals. PREPARATION:A compound of formula II (X2 is Br or I) is reacted with acrylic acid or an ester thereof represented by formula III in the presence of palladium catalyst, triphenylphosphine and an acid scavenger in a solvent such as N,N- dimethylformamide at 50-250 deg.C to obtain the objective compound of formula I. In addition, the compound of formula I is useful for synthesis of 5-halogen- substituted indazoleacetic acid and 5-halogen-substituted indoleacetic acid useful as medical and agricultural chemicals, especially as a plant growth regulator. |
