Apparatus for providing information to a pilot about the weight and balance and the flight characteristics of an aircraft (2) includes a weighing pad (4) for each landing gear strut of the aircraft (2). The pads (4) transmit coded signals representing the weights to an onboard computer (6) which decodes the signals, calculates several factors, and displays the results. The computer (6) is programmed with equations which fit the performance curves for the aircraft and supplied by the aircraft manufacturer. In one embodiment, the signals are transmitted to the computer (6) through a conductor. In another embodiment, the signals are broadcast to an onboard radio receiver (38) by a digital radio transmitter (32). |
