PURPOSE:To extract and analyze an acoustic emission (AE) original waveform even if a specimen is small in size by placing an intermediate plate under the specimen and further supporting the intermediate plate by the use of buffer materials. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate plate 3 is bridged over buffer materials 5 made of rubber, metal, etc. The buffer material 5 is used for the purpose of absorbing vibration, while a buffer layer such as rubber may be provided between the buffer material 5 and the intermediate plate 3. An AE conversion element 4 such as a piezoelectric conversion element is attached to the lower face of the intermediate plate 3, and an output of the AE conversion element 4 is output to a signal processing circuit. A beam-like specimen 2 is mounted on the intermediate plate 3. The thickness of the beam-like specimen 2 is approximately 1 to 4 mm, while the thickness of the intermediate plate 3 is also set to approximately 1 to 4 mm according to the thickness of the beam-like specimen 2. Thus components of reflection and vibration can be reduced or removed with respect to a specimen with a small size and a thin thickness to allow an AE original waveform to be extracted. |
