PROCESS FOR PREPARING AND CONDITIONING METHOXY-DIALKYLAMINE-S TRIAGINES

Methoxy-dialkyl-amino-S-triazins are prepd. directly from cyanuricchloride in toluene and water by successive substitution of the first two chlorine atoms with alkylamines in the presence of NaOH. Following the intermediate prepn. stage at approximately 70 deg.C. NaOH contg. water formed during reaction is removed, followed by the sepn. of unreacted amines from the organic phase which contains cyanuric chloride dissolved in toluene. Methanol and solid NaOH are added to the reaction mixt (at a cyanuric chloride: methanol: NaOH = 1:2.3:1.06 ratio). Temp. is maintained at 70 deg.C. for methoxylation.
