PATENT APPLICATION CX090-107 MULTIPOINT MULTIPLEXING IN A DDS NETWORK A method and apparatus for sending information over a single multi-point line of a network including the steps of generating a time division multiplexed (TDM) frame for transmission of data over the multi-point line, the TDM frame including at least a first field and a second field; assigning a first process to the first field; assigning a second process to the second field; sending data relating to the first process in the first field; and simultaneously sending data relating to the second process in the second field. The multipoint network includes a master and a plurality of slaves and there is a mechanism for synchronizing the master and the slaves that involves sending a first sequence of data frames from the master to a selected one of said plurality of slaves; sending a second sequence of data frames from the selected slave to the master; and synchronizing the first sequence with the second sequence.
