PURPOSE:To enable efficient laser beam machining by movable setting a beam diameter varying lens between a laser oscillator and a condenser lens and varying the beam diameter of laser light incident on the condenser lens. CONSTITUTION:Laser light 2 from a laser oscillator 1 is condensed on a body 10 to be machined with a condenser lens 8. A beam diameter varying lens 3 is set between the oscillator 1 and the condenser 8 so that the lens 3 can be moved in the direction of the optical axis of the laser light 2. In order to vary the beam diameter of the laser light 2 incident on the condenser 8 in accordance with the shape and dimensions of the body to be machined, the lens 3 is moved in the direction of the optical axis of the laser light 3 with a driving means 6. The irradiation of the part of the body 10 not requiring irradiation with laser light can be prevented. |
