摘要 PURPOSE:To let a vehicle be smoothly started by allowing a capacity control means to select a high torque capacity when it is judged that the vehicle is in a suspended condition, throttle opening is lower than a set one, and the vehicle is at the time of starting with throttle opening kept low at which the brake is out of action. CONSTITUTION:A capacity control means (b) controls a variable capacity converter (a) based on a capacity change control schedule previously prepared in such a way that when a vehicle is in a suspended condition or is in a running condition, a variable capacity torque converter (a) is controlled to be kept low or high in torque capacity depending on whether the vehicle condition is in a high torque capacity range or in a low torque capacity range. At the time of starting with throttle opening kept low, detected signals from respective detecting means (c) through (e) for vehicle speed, throttle opening and brake action, are inputted to a capacity control means (b), it is thereby judged that the vehicle is started with throttle opening kept low when conditions that the vehicle is in a suspended condition, throttle opening is lower than a set one and the brake is out of action, are satisfied. In this case, the converter is controlled to be high in torque capacity regardless of control based on the aforesaid control schedule.
