PURPOSE:To make favorable recording possible by a method wherein the title recording device has a capping device to cover a discharge port of an ink jet recording head, which is provided under a recording position by the ink jet recording head, and an ink tank to store ink. CONSTITUTION:By operating an ink pump 76 under a condition in which a cap 41 is joined to a recording head 86, ink is circulated from an ink cartridge 86 to the direction shown by arrow E, and a pipe line including the recording head is filled with ink. A recording paper 1 on which recording has been done by the recording head 38 is guided in the horizontal direction on the top of the recording head 38, and then lowered and stored in a discharge stacker 40. The passage in which recording papers are guided in the horizontal direction is located at a border where a main body is opened. Therefore, even when paper jamming generates, removal of paper is easy, and in addition, capping can be done without damaging the head surface at the time of paper jamming. Also, even if ink leakage generates at the time of capping, recording papers are not stained. |
