The roller consists of a rotating hollow roller (5) through which goes a non-rotary crosshead (4) sticking out at the ends (4') from the ends of the hollow roller (5). A hydraulic support (8) is supported on the crosshead (4) inside the hollow shaft (5) and acts against the inner periphery (6) of the hollow shaft (5). A movable guide ring (13) surrounds one protruding end (4') of the crosshead (4) and has the hollow roller (5) pivot mounted on it. Smooth parallel facing guide surfaces (26, 27) inside the guide-ring (13) rest on corresponding parallel facing guide surfaces (16, 17) of the cross head (4). USE/ADVANTAGE - The roller reduces friction.
