Appts. comprises adjacent transverse flats which cooperate with an opposing cylinder, and each consist of a carding element with a seat for receiving mounting lugs of a support member, the lugs pref. being of dovetail form and the seat of complementary shape. Each element carries carding blades or reeds, pref. toothed, and the elements (5) are closely edge-to-edge. Pref. the carding elements carry toothed blades or reeds sepd. by spacers, and have pulling teeth alternate with combining teeth.
