A liq., suspension stable, multi-purpose cleaning agent for hard surfaces contains abrasives, water, and a mixt. of anionic surfactants or anionic surfactants and amphoteric surfactants, and has pH 5.5-9.5. The mixt. is free from builders. The compsn. pref. contains 10-35(15-25)wt.% of surfactants, esp. of at least 2 anionic surfactants, or 1 or more anionic surfactants and amphoteric surfactants. The ratio by wt. of anionic:amphoteric surfactants is 20-1:1(8-1:1). The compsn. has pH 6.0-7.5 and contains 5-20(10-15)wt.% of water-insoluble abrasive with particle size 5-100 microns.
