A high-capacity gas laser has a laser discharge tube which is composed of a stack of ceramic discs alternating with cooling discs. The ceramic discs consist perferably of Al2O3 ceramics and the cooling discs form the discharge channel of the laser and parallel to them return channels. The cooling discs have coaxial bores. The discharge tube also has laser mirrors at the ends.
