The coal plough has a three-part blade. It consists of three plates (3,4,5) which fit under the face conveyor. The outer plates (4,5) have turned up straps (21) at their outer edges (14) which fit from underneath in the slot (20) in the chain block (19), and on their inner edges (15) there are narrower straps (22) to fit in a slot (20) in another chain block (19). There is greater play in the inner edges (15) than on the outer edges (14), and the plates (3,4 and 3,5) are joined together by loose tongue and groove joints to keep them in the same level plane. USE/ADVANTAGE - Any irregularity in the ground or in the position of the conveyor is taken up by the loose connections.
