<p>PURPOSE:To produce a chemically stable filler exhibiting high separation ability by substantially covering the entire surface of silica gel with the repeating unit of a specified polycaroxysilane. CONSTITUTION:The filler for reversed phase chromatography is obtained by substantially covering the entire surface of silica gel with the repeating unit of a polycarboxysilane expressed by the formula (where R1 is an octyl, octadecyl or phenyl group, R2 is a methyl or methylene group, and n is a positive integer), and a methyl group is solely used for the R2 of the polycarboxysilane. The polysilane coating the silica gel is treated at 200-500 deg.C in an inert atmosphere to improve the durability of the filler and to retain sufficient column efficiency. A chemically stable filler for reversed phase chromatography exhibiting high separation ability is produced in this way.</p> |
