4-Thienyl-5-oxo-1,4,5,7- tetrahydrofuro(3,4-b) pyridine-3-carboxylic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their isomers and salts are new: where R1 = 1 or 2 halogen atoms, 1-8C alkyl or 3-8C cycloalkyl; R2 = linear, branched or cyclic, satd. or unsatd. 1-15C hydrocarbyl opt. interrupted by 1 or 2 O atoms, N-phenyl, S, SO or SO2 and opt. substd. by halogen, phenyl, OH, CN, NH2, mono- or di(1-6C alkyl)amino, pyridyl, piperidino, 4-phenyl-1-piperazinyl, 4-methyl-1-piperazinyl, morpholino or N-benzyl-N-methylamino; R3 = H, CN, CHO, or 1-6C alkyl or 3-6C cycloalkyl opt. substd. by halogen, OH, NH2 or 1-6C aminoalkoxy; R4 = H or 1-10C alkyl or 3-10C cycloalkyl opt. interrupted by 1 or 2 O atoms and opt. substd. by halogen, CN, OH, phenyl, COOH, 2-9C alkoxycarbonyl, NH2, mono- or di(1-8C alkyl)amino, CHO, piperidino, morpholino or thiomorpholino.
