<p>A muff component (1) having a muff (3) and a spigot (4) comprises a step (7) behind the spigot (4). The step (7) can constitute an abutment surface for a spacing collar (8) to be used with a pipe seal with a gliding sheath (not shown) to be placed on the part of the circumferential surface (5) of the spigot not covered by the spacing collar (8), when the spigot (4) is to be connected with a muff (not shown), the gliding sheath of the pipe seal gliding onto the spacing collar (8) and being protected by it. When the spigot (4) is to be inserted in an opening in a relatively thick wall in a pipe or a well (not shown) with a large diameter, the spacing collar (8) is removed, after which the spigot is inserted in a sealing ring with projections and grooves placed in the opening, the sealing ring preferably having a projection facing the muff component and preventing direct contact between the latter and the wall.</p> |
