Detecting origin of slide bearing defects - by filtering, amplifying, frequency selection and differential quotient formation of sound emission signals

A method of detecting the origins of slide bearing defects involves detecting sound emissions form the bearings, converting them into electrical signals, filtering and amplifying them and processing them into a sound emission parameter. The parameter is fed into a frequency selective monitoring unit controlled by the frequency of rotation of the shaft. It is processed into a diagnostic characteristic number in the form of a differential quotient relating the amplitudes of the single, double and one-and-a-half multiple components of the rotation frequency. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method enables delay-free, fully automated defect origin location in slide bearings.
