The circulator has a hollow waveguide branch zone with an applied static magnetic field at which a ferromagnetic resonator with differing dielectric elements is positioned. The boundary surfaces of the dielectric elements define volumes with a constant cross-section extending over the full height of the branch zone. Pref. the circulator uses ferromagnetic rods (7) fitting through openings (13,14) in the opposing waveguide walls (1,2), the size of these openings (13,14) preventing passage of the HF field within the circulator. The resonator defined by the ferromagnetic rods (7) is pref. enclosed by a dielectric cylinder (8).
