A card reader and its controls guarantees accurate data reading without any relation to data characteristics of card magnetic band, while the usual card reader can read only upper or bottom band and the available number of bits to read is fixed. The card reader circuit is composed of μ-com (1) controlling overall operation, card-recorded signal detector (2) for data start signals (CLS1,CLS2), clock signal (CLK1,CLK2) and data signal (DAT1,DAT2) and the first data detector (3) which detects 5-bits data and inputs to -com. The remainings are the second data detector (4) for data of arbitrary number of bit and buffer (5) storing output signal from μ-com, inifializing (3) & (4) and setting the number of bits to detects from (4).
