<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject resin useful for printing, etc., having excellent adhesiveness by reacting a specific phenolic hydroxyl group-containing aromatic hydrocarbon resin with an excess amount of a polyisocyanate and reacting with an active hydrogen-containing alpha,beta-unsaturated compound. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic fraction (aromatic petroleum or coal fraction having 140-240 deg.C boiling point. e.g. naphtha) is polymerized with phenolics in the presence of Friedel-Crafts catalyst to obtain a phenolic hydroxyl group- containing aromatic hydrocarbon resin having 40-130mg KOH/g, preferably 50-120mg KOH/g hydroxyl value. Next, a resultant resin is reacted with polyisocyanate (e.g., butylene-1,4-diisocyanate) in an excess amount to hydroxyl group and residual isocyanate group is reacted with an active hydrogen- containing alpha,beta-unsaturated compound (e.g. acrylic acid) to afford the aimed resin.</p> |
