A method is for processing the key signal of a remote controller, and for transmitting the data to the electronic apparatus. The remote controller has a mode selecting key for selecting the operating mode, and an input key for transmitting the data to the apparatus. A microprocessor sequentially selects a reproducing mode, a stop mode, a still/pause mode and a fast winding mode according to the input of the mode selecting key.
