PURPOSE:To measure the vehicle speed with only one optical system by use of signal components from brightness points such as edges and lights of a bumper, a bonnet and a trunk of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:Signal cycle data S1 and S2 are prepared at points B1-B3 large in the variation of the brightness including edges and fronts of a bumper, a head lamp, a tail brake lamp, a bonnet and a roof, a glass of a rear window and a load of a freight car of a vehicle CA through a spatial filter to determine the maximum in the cycle data. The speed of the vehicle is calculated from the maximum value and a constant concerning the spatial filter. |
