Method of putting a series of representations (11a, 11b, 11c) into colour, the representations being formed respectively from a multiplicity of regions (12a, 12b, 12c) bounded by contours and capable of moving and/or changing shape from one representation to the other, for the purposes of producing an animated sequence, particularly one formed from the said successive coloured representations, consisting in selecting a reference point (13a), within each of the regions to be coloured, of a representation visually displayed on a visual display screen, and in attributing or associating a colour with each of these reference points for the purposes of colouring or filling in the region associated with each reference point with the colour chosen for this region, in memorising, correspondingly, the cartography of the set of selected reference points (13a, 13b, 13c) and the colours which are respectively attributed to or associated with them, in superimposing, on another visually displayed representation, the cartography of the reference points and of the associated colours of the preceding representation, and in correcting the position of the reference point (13c) of the regions of this other representation which have moved or have been deformed in such a way that this reference point is brought within the region for which it was previously attributed, for the purposes of colouring each of the regions by the colours which are respectively associated with them. <IMAGE>
