Process for metallising polyethersulphone (PES) making it possible to obtain an adherence of the metal coating which is homogeneous and superior to that obtained by existing processes. This objective is attained with the aid of a process for metallising polyethersulphone, especially for the production of printed circuits and screened cabinets, of the type comprising a stage (20) of preparation of the surface to be metallised, by swelling with dichloropropanol solvent and oxidation with a sulphochromic mixture, and a stage (30) of chemical and electrolytic metallising, the said preparation stage (20) comprising at least successive sequences of preparatory treatment, each sequence comprising an operation (23, 25) of swelling with solvent, followed by an operation (24, 26) of oxidation with a sulphochromic mixture. This process makes it possible to obtain an adherence of the metal deposit which is higher than or equal to 15 N/cm. <IMAGE>
