The present invention relates to a fastener for fixing an object to a component through the use of an elongate support. This fastener (1) has the general shape of a U which can be engaged over an elongate element (2) and can be deformed under the effect of pressure giving rise to the fastener being shored up against the elongate element, at least one (7) of the two branches (5, 7) of the U being inclined towards the outside of the U and oblique with respect to the median plane of the base (8) of the U which intersects this branch, whereas two notches (11, 12) are provided on this fastener and extend facing one another such that they enclose the elongate element (2) in order to lock the fastener to it. This fastener applies to the fixing of any objects, such as lamp supports, to an elongate element. <IMAGE>
