摘要

The srfA operon of Bacillus subtilis which codes for the multienzyme surfactin synthetase complex responsible for the production of surfactin and induction of the competent state of Bacillus subtilis has been cloned and sequenced. The srfA operon comprises approximately 27 kilobases and comprises a promoter region having at least four coding sequences (open reading frame - ORF) which are translated separately and which code for four different enzyme proteins. The srfA operon or at least one of the ORF of the said operon or regions thereof are useful for the production of surfactin or at least one enzyme protein of the surfactin synthetase complex or fragments thereof via recombinant DNA.
