PURPOSE:To obtain the refractory material excellent in compressive strength and erosion resistance by mixing an alloy of metallic chromium and a specified metal or the compd. into a magnesia refractory material. CONSTITUTION:The alloy of metallic chromium and metallic iron, magnesium, aluminum, silicon, etc., contg. 85-50% chromium and having <=100mu grain diameter or the compd. is mixed by 1-7wt.% into magnesia or a refractory material contg. magnesia to obtain the basic refractory material. In this refractory material, an oxidizing agent is effectively added to eliminate the unoxidized and uncalcined parts. An oxidizing agent stable before calcination, capable of oxidizing metal in calcination, without greatly influencing the corrosion resistance of the refractory material and without damaging a kiln has to be used. Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 are appropriately used in these respects. |
