<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a sharp edge from being generated when tempered glass is crushed by heating a glass sheet while carrying it in a horizontal state and firstly performing preliminary cooling by which at least stripy lines having the specified angle for the transfer direction of the glass sheet are exhibited and thereafter performing ordinary air-cooling tempering by which the stripy lines are exhibited parallel to the flow direction. CONSTITUTION:In a tempering method of a glass sheet wherein the glass sheet 1 heated at the temp. of at least strain point is tempered by blowing a cooling medium from a nozzle for cooling thereon while transferring it in a horizontal state, the following means is adopted. In other words, preliminary cooling 3 is performed wherein at least stripy lines 5 having an inclination of 45 deg.<theta<=90 deg. for progression direction are exhibited. Thereafter ordinary air-cooling tempering 4 is performed (in this case, the stripy lines 6 parallel for the progression direction are exhibited).</p> |
