PRODUCTION OF EXTRACT OF EUCOMMIA ULMOIDES LEAVES

PURPOSE:To readily obtain the subject extract especially for drinking without requirement of chemicals by efficiently removing impurities from an extract solution of Eucommia ulmoides leaves using the membrane separation method and concentrating its active components in production of the subject Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract from the above-mentioned extract solution of dried Eucommia ulmoides leaves. CONSTITUTION:From an extract solution obtained by extracting dried Eucommia ulmoides leaves using water (especially hot water) or an organic solvent such as a lower alcohol, preferably water, impurities are efficiently removed by a membrane separation method such as the ultrafiltration membrane method or the reverse osmosis membrane method. The active components are subsequently concentrated by the reverse osmosis membrane method to obtain the objective Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract containing various medical components with such advantages as simplification of subsequent processes because of no requirement of chemicals in processing and suitability of the above-mentioned extract for drinking.
