Disclosed is a centrifugal fan blade assembly basically comprised of two parallely disposed flat disks of similar diameter with blades that radiate from a circular cut-out hub area to the other diameters of the disks and extend from one disk to the other in a direction normal to the plane of either disk. The cut-out center hub area of one or both of the disks is the inlet area of the assembly, and the exhaust or outflow of the assembly is an opening in a housing adjacent to the edges (external or distal circumferences) of the disks. This invention provides for shaped cut-outs in the disk which faces the inlet area. Cut-outs may be provided in the other disk if desired or if the surface of the other disk provides a second inlet area. It is contemplated that where no disk (that has a cut-out hub type inlet area) is used, the inlet area will include behind the blade cut-outs that can be better characterized as open areas behind blades, and the blades will have forwardreaching protrusions in the plane where the inlet side disk would otherwise be. The preferred embodiment teaches a paired, parallel flat disk configuration with paddle wheel-type blades extending between those disks since such air assembly fits easily into the configuration of the overall structure in which the preferred embodiment blade assembly operates. Unequal spacing is provided between the blades to break up the frequency content of the noise they produce. |
