PURPOSE: To automate the optimized pairing operation of disk units by detecting the change of constitution in a computer system provided with the disk units paired in advance and pairing the disk units again when a protection level is lowered by the change of the constitution. CONSTITUTION: The computer system 10 is provided with a processor 20, buses 21 and 22, I/O processors 31-34 and a disk surrounding bodies 41-46 composed of controllers 51-56 and the disk units 61-72. In this case, every time the computer system starts an operation, whether or not the protection level is lowered as the result of the change of the constitution is checked, and when it is so, the disk units 61-72 on the computer system are paired again so as to increase the protection level. Thus, the paring operation of the disk units for optimizing the level of the protection of the computer system is automated. |
