A device for tightly packed stacking of metal profiles in layers on a stacking table, the device comprising a conveyor 14; at least two stoppers for stopping the profiles in certain positions in their conveyor track 27; an elevating table 24 for raising and lowering the stopped profiles; a turning mechanism 16 for turning the profiles upside down; and a bundling device 15. The first stopper 25 is situated at a first distance J from the turning axis 21 of the turning mechanism and the second stopper 23 is situated at a different distance O at an opposite distance from this turning axis 21. The first and second distances J, O have been adjusted such that the turning upside down of the profile lying against the second stopper, secured to the turning arm 22, simultaneously transfers this upside down turned profile of the profile lying against the second stopper into a profile position which has been slightly displaced in the direction of transport K or in the opposite direction V. <IMAGE>
