A high strength shape memory alloy is produced by melting and casting a Cu alloy to obtain a steel ingot, heating the ingot at 750-850 deg.C for 2-5days, hot rolling it at 850-950 deg.C, annealing it at 750-950 deg.C for 2-5mims., and quenching it in the water. The alloy is composed of 10-15 wt.% Al, 0.5-5.0 wt.% Ni, 0.01-1.0 wt.% Si, 0.01-1.5 wt.% Zr and a remainder of Cu. The alloy has a good mechanical property and thermal stability.
