The present invention relates to a space heater of the type of device making use of an electric resistor fixed to a support and a covering preventing the unexpected contact of persons with the resistor, mainly characterised in that it consists of a decorative panel (1) made of a material which withstands temperatures comprised between 50 and 100 DEG C, and of a so-called functional panel (2) of essentially the same dimensions as the decorative panel and intended to receive and to support the decorative panel, said functional panel having a surface which is slightly curved at its centre on the side of contact with the decorative panel and comprising a zig-zag groove (3) which is closed on itself to accommodate the electric resistor; the functional panel also supports means (6) for holding the decorative panel and, on its rear face, means (7) for ensuring its own removable fixing against a wall, and means (8) for electric supply and for controlling the temperature. <IMAGE>
