The present invention relates to an appliance, driven by a DC electric motor (21). The electrical power is supplied by two accumulators (2) and (4). This motor (21) drives a corkscrew screw (14) via a set of gears (6), (7), (8), (9) and of a speed-reducing (reducing-gear) mechanism (5). A part (15) makes it possible to bear on the neck of a bottle. A part (13) slides inside the part (15) and holds the cork inside the corkscrew. A part (28) actuates the electrical switch (12), this part switching on the motor (21) and cutting off the supply thereto once the said cork has been extracted from the neck of the bottle. <IMAGE>
