发明名称 ELECTRODE CATALYST LAYER OF PHOSPHORIC ACID TYPE FUEL CELL
摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the initial characteristic and stability to change on standing of a cell by using catalysts having different specific surface areas in electrode catalyst layers, and making the specific surface area on electrode base material side small, compared with the matrix side. CONSTITUTION:An air electrode 3a and fuel electrode 3b consisting of electrode catalyst layers and electrode base materials 2a and 2a, 2b, and 1b, respectively, are formed with a matrix 4 having phosphoric acid of an electrolyte between, whereby a phosphoric acid type fuel cell is constituted. In the layers 2a, 2b which are plural layers, catalysts having different specific surfaces are used, and the specific surface on the electrodes 1a, 1b side is small, compared with the matrix side 4. Hence, the layers 2a, 2b are easy to be moisten with phosphoric acid on the matrix 4 side and difficult to be moisten on the base material 1a, 1b side, so that the gas feeding capacity to the catalyst is maintained, and the fluorine resin content in the layers 2a, 2b can be made sufficient. Consequently, the initial characteristics and stability to change on standing of the cell are enhanced, and the mechanical strength of the electrode catalyst layer is sufficiently ensured.
