PURPOSE:To transmit data required for function expansion only once by storing an expanded function in the nonvolatile memory of the display server. CONSTITUTION:Information for expanding the function of the display server is stored in the nonvolatile memory 8 of the display server 3 from a host 1 through a network 2. Therefore, even when the display server 3 is powered off, this expansion information is left, so when the display server 3 is powered on next, the display server 3 is started while the function is expanded without loading the expansion information again. Thus, the display server 3 is equipped with the nonvolatile memory 8, so the expanded function which is defined for the display server 3 is stored on the nonvolatile memory 8 only once through a telephone line and the information for realizing the expanded function need not be sent for next-time use.
