The invention relates to a method of filing and to a filing system for implementing said method. It will be applicable to secretarial and archiving work and the like. According to the invention, a series (1) of cards (2) classified by title and optionally by subject is prepared. Each title on the card (2) is allocated a module number and a file number. The file is placed in a wallet (4) which bears the corresponding file number (5) and this is then placed in a module (6) whose file number is also written (8) on the wallet (4).
