PURPOSE:To open a paper carrying path and to maintain a constant relative position between an image carrier and an exposure part by assemblying an electrifying part, a transfer part, a developing part, a fixing part, and the exposure part on a supporting body in an image carrier unit and making it freely attachable / detachable to the main body. CONSTITUTION:At the time of maintainnance of the device, the paper carrying path is left open by extracting the image carrying unit 18 to an upper direction after cutting off the connection of a connector 36 and retreating it from a shaft 41 of the image carrier 14 by rotating a hook 48. Because the image carrier 14 and the exposure part 27 are retained to a common supporting body 18a, even when the unit 18 is attached / detached against the main body for a jamming processing, the relative position between the image carrier 14 and the exposure part 27 are always kept constant. Although stray toner is traveled by swirling air current due to rotation of the image carrier 14, it is not adhered to a focal lens 32 being prevented by an insulating plate 37. And the influence on the exposure part 27 by corona discharge of the electrifying part 19 is prevented by the plate 37.
