The invention relates to a heald with C-shaped or J-shaped end hooks arranged at the ends of the body of the heald, for retention on the supporting rail of a heald frame. According to the invention, the back (3) of the end hook (1) which faces the hooked end (2) has a cross-section which widens in the direction of the end of the hook as far as its hooked end (2), and the inner edge of the back, which extends at an angle relative to the outer edge, changes to an advantageously rounded wedge for coming to bear against the edge of the supporting rail (8).
