PURPOSE:To prevent the temperature rise of a transmitting/receiving coil without contacting a high temperature substance to be measured with cooling water and to obtain a highly accurate detecting signal by arranging a protection cover between the substance to be measured and the transmitting/receiving coil, cooling the coil by cooling gas and cooling a base mounting the coil by cooling water. CONSTITUTION:The transmitting/receiving coil 7 is mounted on the surface side of the base 8, the base 8 is fixed to the aperture part of a base holder 5 so that the coil 7 is turned to the outside and the protection cover 3 is arranged between the coil 7 and the object P to be measured to form a space 4 between the cover 3 and the coil 7. A heat conductor 11 is stuck to the rear side of the base 8 so as to cover a connection part with a signal cable 9, cooling air 12 is ledinto the space 4 and cooling water 14 is led into the holder 5. Since the coil 7 is directly cooled by the cooling air 12 and the rear face of the base 8 is cooled by the cooling water 14 through the heat conductor 11, the temperature rise of the coil 7 is surely prevented and a highly accurate pipe thickness detecting signal is obtained by transmitting an electromagnetic ultrasonic wave from the coil to the object P to be measured. |
