In this roof covering device comprising a framework consisting of several portal frames, each having an upper beam (2) of V-shaped cross-section, fixed roof covering elements (4) and movable roof covering elements (5) which can be displaced on rails (8), crosspieces (15) are provided for supporting the rails (8) in line with each beam (2); these crosspieces (15) bracing the branches (6) of the corresponding beam (2) underneath the fixed roof covering elements (4) which they support, rail support seats (11), each having at least one foot (23) whose lower end is fixed to one of the crosspieces (15) and which passes right through the fixed roof covering element (4), and weather proofing means (26) being provided in line with each passage of the foot (23). The rails (8) are supported and fixed to the upper part (22) of the support seats (11) in such a way as to extend above the fixed roof covering elements (4) and without making contact with the latter. <IMAGE>
