The present invention relates to a hammer mill for shredding metallic objects, consisting of hammers (1) mounted on a driving drum (2) driven in both directions of rotation and located in a milling enclosure (3) provided with lower (4) and upper (5) screening walls and of a feed device (6) with crushing drums (7), this mill being provided with two pivoting covers (8) delimiting, on the opposite side from their hinge pin (10), the central feed inlet (11) for the mill and the feed device (6) for the crushing drums (7) being mounted so that it can pivot in a movable manner in the space delimited between the covers (8), characterised in that the lower screening walls (4) consist of individual elements (4') mounted freely on a central guide (12) and lateral guides (13) and held on the latter by lateral armouring elements (14) of the mill, in that the central feed inlet (11) is equipped with a pivoting anti-refusal flap (15), in that the feed chute (16) of the mill is equipped with lateral cutouts (17) for the passage of the crushing drums (7), and in that the discs constituting the drive drum (2) are provided with integral protective caps joined together at the drive shaft of the drum (2). <IMAGE>
