<p>PURPOSE:To make possible the printing of high-quality characters and at the same time, obtain a halftone image of satisfactory quality by interpreting whether there can be a single line-wide linear component based on a relationship between the values of bits at the same digital positions of an output line and a line before or after the former, and determining a character area and a halftone image area based on the lengths of the lines. CONSTITUTION:A line width interpretation part 4 reads bits at the same digital positions from a line buffer aimed at an output 2, a front line buffer 1 and a back line buffer 3, and connects a signal to a line length interpretation part 8 based on a logic relationship between three bits. For example, if the bit of the line aimed at an output is 1, and the bits of the front and back lines are '0' respectively, bit '1' is output and in the other case, bit '0' is output. A line length interpretation part 8 counts so many continuous bits of '1', and if the length of a row of bits '1' is below a specified value, the part 8 sets the row of bits to '0', and outputs a signal for the bit '1' to an auxiliary LED signal generation part, if the length exceeds a specified value. Thus the character area and the halftone image area can be determined.</p> |
